Court Adjourns Nnamdi Kanu’s Rearraignment To Wednesday,Jan 19

ABUJA – Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Tuesday adjourned the trial of the detained leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to January 19.

The adjournment followed Kanu’s objection to the fresh amended charge filed against him by the Federal Government.
Nnamdi Kanu’s counsel, Mike Ozekhome SAN accused the Federal Government of ambushing his client with the new charge.

In addition, Ozekhome claimed that the proof of evidence attached to the amended charge was not legible enough for their understanding of the contents of the charge.

In view of the foregoing, the defence counsel pleaded for an adjournment to enable him to have ample time to have a full grasp of the charge.

The FG’s lawyer, Shuaibu Labaran did not oppose Ozekhome’s application for an adjournment.

Meanwhile, Justice Nyako has adjourned to Wednesday, January 19, for Kanu to enter his plea based on the fresh charge.

Kanu is presently being prosecuted by the Federal Government over alleged treasonable felony, terrorism and other related offences.
