Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp will be leading his wards to another final of the UEFA Champions League after they were beaten by Real Madrid Last season.
This time, they will be facing another English side, Tottenham Hotspurs in the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid, Spain.
Many in the soccer fraternity are very apprehensive that Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp is set to lose another final. Jurgen Klopp has never won any European final match in his managerial career.
In 2013, his club, Borussia Dortmund was drawn in a ‘group of death’ that comprised of Manchester City, Real Madrid and Ajax in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League.
Dortmund shocked the world when they won the group without losing a single match. They progressed to the semi-finals, where they took on Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid again.
In the first leg, Jurgen Klopp’s men did all the hard work as they disgraced Real Madrid 4-1. Despite losing the second leg 0-2 at the Bernabeu, Borussia Dortmund qualified on a 4-3 aggregate.
The final was against another German side, Bayern Munich, at the iconic Wembley Stadium in England.
Dortmund lost 1-2 to Bayern Munich in the finals with Arjen Robben scoring the winner on the 89th minute.
In 2016, Jurgen Klopp took Liverpool to the finals of the UEFA Europa League where they faced Sevilla.
Prior to the final, Liverpool have posted wonderful results including a 3-1 aggregate defeat of Manchester United in the round of 16, a 5-4 aggregate win over Klopp’s former club, Borussia Dortmund in the quarterfinals and a 3-1 aggregate win over Villarreal in the semi-finals.
In the finals, Liverpool started brightly with Daniel Sturridge putting Liverpool in front in the first half.
Unfortunately, Sevilla scored three goals in the second half to deny Jurgen Klopp another European title.
In 2018, Liverpool were in another European final. It was the UEFA Champions League finals against defending champions, Real Madrid, who were gunning for their third straight title.
After Mohamed Salah was injured and replaced, the Reds lost steam as Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates defeated their English opponents 3-1 to hand Jurgen Klopp his third European final defeat. Is Jurgen Klopp jinxed?
Here we are again, another UEFA Champions League final against English opposition, Tottenham Hotspurs.
In my opinion, Jurgen Klopp is not jinxed. He has done a lot of work on Liverpool since that painful last season loss to Real Madrid.
Their second leg fight back in their semi-final clash against highly rated Barcelona is an eloquent testimony to the fact that Liverpool have what it takes to rule Europe after 14 years.
Coming from three goals down against a team like Barcelona to win 4-0 at Anfield is not a stroll in the park.
Even if Liverpool fail to win come June 1, Klopp has written his name in the annals of history as one of the best coaches that football has ever known.
