COS Visits Abia Tourism Board, Reassures General Manager

The Abia State Government has reassured the State Tourism Board of support to enable it continue discharging its duties effectively.

The Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Prof. Anthony C.B Agbazuere who gave the assurance during a one day working visit to Abia State Tourism Board Umuahia, also commended the new General Manager of the Board, Queen Onyekachi Atuloma for coming up with ideas and innovation that will aid in boosting the tourism sector in the state.

He further extolled the Abia Tourism Board General Manager for being proactive, alive to her responsibilities and taking concrete steps at revamping the tourism sector in the state within her one month in office.

The Chief of Staff to the Governor seized the opportunity to call on other political office holders to see their appointments as a call to serve and contribute their quota towards the development of the state.

Earlier in her welcome address, the General Manager, Abia State Tourism Board, Queen Onyekachi Atuloma disclosed that her team have been engaged in the process of resuscitating the board as well as commenced the process of internal management reorganization and staff motivation to strengthen their capacity for full scale delivery of their statutory duties in line with the Governor’s mandate.

Atulomah also while enumerating some of the key Programmes of the board including capacity building training for staff, quality assurance training for tourism operators and hospitality industry Practitioners across the state, sundry entertainment engagements to explore the nexus between tourism and entertainment, revenue generation interventions in line with the statutory mandate of the board, evaluation of tourism sites across the state by the Nigerian Association of Tour Operators (NATOP), commemoration of the 2022 World Tourism Day, appealed to the state government and relevant stakeholders in the tourism sector for support.

She expressed gratitude to Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu for finding her worthy to serve as the General Manager of the Board.

The Commissioner for Homeland Security, Mr Sopuruchi Bekee, his Petroleum counterpart, Chief Eze Nwanganga, the Chairman of ASUBEB, Elder Josiah Ananaba and Dr Ako Obioma in their respective speeches, disclosed that it takes only a resourceful and pragmatic leader like Governor Ikpeazu to identify the treasurable qualities inherent in Queen Atuloma, pointing out that her appointment is a springboard for the massive development coming to the board.
