Comrade Divine Nwankwo Emerges Chairman As Ministry Of Information Staff Welfare Association Elects New Exco

 

The Ministry of Information Staff Welfare Association has elected New Executives Members, with Comrade Divine Nwankwo emerging as the new Chairman.

 

 

The newly elected team include; Dike Ugochukwu, Vice Chairman, Blessing Uche as Secretary, Ugochukwu Ezenwa Assistant Secretary, Susan Ewelike Treasurer, Chinwe Anunobi Financial Secretary, Ngozi Sunday Welfare Officer, and Obichukwu Nwogbo as Public Relations Officer (PRO).

 

 

Others elected are Apugo Martins Internal Auditor, Nnamdi Nzenwa Provost 1, Onyinyechi Prosper Provost 2, and Ndukwe Emmanuel as Zonal Representative for Abia Central.

 

 

Speaking during the election, which was held at the Ministry’s Lobby, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, urged the new executive to embrace innovative leadership and prioritize improving working conditions, knowledge, and office relationships.

He also emphasized the importance of electing leaders who will move the Association forward and fight for the welfare of its members, noting that the current government is committed to the well-being of Abia citizens.

 

 

The Head of Service, Dr. Ngozi Obioma, represented by the Director in charge of Service Welfare Bureau, Mr. Boniface Kalu, advised contestants to adhere to the election rules and show good sportsmanship.

 

 

Contributing, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Sir Chris Onwuegbu, stated that the activities of the new executive would be closely monitored to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in line with Governor Alex Otti’s vision for a new Abia.

Earlier while announcing the election results the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mrs. Adaeze Ralph Igbokwe, noting that out of 12 positions, five were contested while seven were unopposed.

 

 

She disclosed that Comrade Divine Nwankwo secured 78 votes to defeat his opponent, who got 71 votes.

 

 

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Nwankwo pledged to redefine leadership in the Association as well as ensure transparency and accountability in managing the association’s affairs and expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their trust and the opportunity to serve.

Acting Director General of BCA, Mr. Francis Nwaubani, and other directors from the Ministry witnessed the event.
