‘Community-Based Project is the Key to Development’ – Abia Lawmaker

The Minority Whip/member representing Arochukwu State Constituency, Abia House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Onyekwere Mike Ukoha, has described community based projects as the key to everything.

Speaking at Isu community, Arochukwu LGA, during a Town Hall Meeting, the Lawmaker told the people that as their representative, he will always provide quality representation.

A cross section of people during a crucial meeting with Hon. Dr. Mike Onyekwere Ukoha recently in Isu community, Arochukwu LGA.

He explained that his office in collaboration with few of his colleagues, went to Calabar on April 16th, 2020, to meet with the Deputy Governor of Cross River State and members of the Assembly, to discuss ways to end the Isu crisis with their neighbors.

According to him, he stated that due to the outbreak of Covid 19, it affected further moves aimed at bringing lasting peace, adding that as soon as the pandemic is relaxed, further positive steps will commence.

The Minority Whip further revealed that the State Government will soon establish Police Barracks in lsu, based on the recommendations by the Security Agencies, pointing out that lack of  finance is the major reason why the project is still pending.

He lauded the efforts of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who included the construction of a 1 Kilometer road from Ututu to Isu, adding that the Isu abandoned Water Project has been captured in the 2021 Federal Budget to be completed.

The Minority Whip, also used the medium to inform Isu people that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has written the National Boundary Commission on the need to urgently intervene in their matter, adding that he is awaiting  NBC response.

Earlier, the President General Isu Progressive Union, Elder Felix Okoro, had lauded the Lawmaker on his numerous developmental strides, stressing that the Lawmaker has opened the eyes of the people towards quality projects.

He described him as an unassuming personality and thanked him for gradually grading their road which has been in a deplorable condition.

Also speaking, a former Chief of Staff to the Governor and Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mazi Donatus Okorie, thanked him for finding time to be in their midst.

He went down memory lane, to discuss efforts he had made in the past to see that the roads in Isu drew the attention of both the State and Federal government for intervention.

The former Chief of Staff, noted that as soon as the road is fixed, it will make Isu community and Arochukwu LGA, an Economic hub.

In her vote of thanks, Chief Mrs. Blessing Nwankwo, extolled the good works of the Lawmaker.

Chief Mrs. Nwankwo, highlighted some of  their challenges to include, provision of scholarship to indigent families and ensuring that their children advance in Education as it is the key to everything.

She prayed God to continue to give him wisdom to do more for his people.
