The Change Nigeria Party governorship candidate in the 2019 general elections in Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Anietie Ukpong, has distributed palliatives worth N20 million to ease the stay- at- home order of government.
The palliatives which included bags of rice, beans, garri and other consumables were distributed to mostly the vulnerable segments of the society in Sokoto, Akwa Ibom, Nasarawa, Ebonyi, Imo and Delta states.
Ukpong in a statement in Uyo, the state capital after the distribution appreciated the efforts of government in tackling the pandemic and tasked public spirited Nigerians to demonstrate love to others especially the less privilege at this critical time.
“These palliatives is to cushion and ease the stay- at -home order as you go through another extension of lockdown ordered by government of Akwa Ibom State.
” This is the time of need and want to urge fellow Nigerians to demonstrate this gesture to people, especially the vulnerable in the society”.
The gubernatorial candidate who founded the Change Nigeria Party in Akwa Ibom State urged the Federal and State Governments to establish strategic reserves for food and medicines to guide against critical times like this in future
The US based Engineer also encouraged Nigerians to embark on commercial food production and called on Government to set up micro finance banks in each of the senatorial districts to facilitate loans to entrepreneurs and farmers.
He also called on religious leaders to pray for Nigerians saying that the country would soon come out of the pandemic
