CLUB WORLD CUP: Chelsea Make A Flying Start

Chelsea commenced their Club World Cup campaign with a 2-0 victory over Los Angeles FC at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Pedro Neto scored in the first half to give the UEFA Conference League champions the lead before Argentine international Enzo Fernandez confirmed victory with the second goal in the second half.

Chelsea’s opponents featured familiar foes in their former striker Oliver Giroud and former Tottenham Hotspurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. However, the Blues had the last laugh with the duo of Liam Delap and Dario Essugo making their Chelsea debut. Delap put up a Man of the Match performance including assisting Fernandez for the second goal.

Chelsea, who have now won eight of their last nine matches will take on Brazilian side Flamengo in Philadelphia on Friday while Los Angeles FC will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways when they take on Esperance of Tunisia, who also lost their opening match to Flamengo by the same margin, the same day.
