Residents and civil servants living in Agbama Housing Estate in Umuahia South Local Government Area have expressed serious concern about the rising cost of transportation. They say the situation is becoming harder every day, especially for workers who depend on public transport to go to work.

This has made it difficult for them to manage their monthly salaries. According to them, what they spend on transportation now takes up a large part of their income. They are calling on the state government to introduce shuttle buses that will make movement easier, faster, and more affordable.

Mr Michael a civil servant resident in agbama who spoke with our correspondent said the cost of going to work has almost doubled in recent months. He blamed this increase on the rising cost of fuel and the general economic situation in the country. He added that transport operators often increase fares without warning, leaving workers with no choice but to pay.

Another a civil servant, who chose to remain anonymous, said that transportation now takes more money than the official allowance given to workers. She appealed to the government led by Dr. Alex Otti to urgently provide shuttle buses for civil servants for resident of agbama, She suggested that the buses should pick workers from Agbama Gate in the morning and also from World Bank Estate, and then return them after work.
