Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has called on residents of the state to embrace peace, tolerance, and unity as Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
In his Christmas message to the people of Rivers State, Governor Fubara described the season as a time of hope, renewal, and thanksgiving, noting that the birth of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, remains a timeless example of love, humility, sacrifice, and compassion.
The governor said Christmas represents God’s boundless love and gift of peace to humanity, urging residents to reflect on these enduring values and allow them to guide their relationships with one another. He called on citizens, regardless of religious affiliation, to uphold religious tolerance and recommit to the responsibility of being their brother’s keeper, particularly in the face of prevailing socio-economic challenges.
Governor Fubara emphasized that unity and harmony are essential to the collective progress of Rivers State, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the Rivers First agenda, which he said is anchored on peace and inclusive development. According to him, only a united and stable state can foster infrastructure development, strengthen the economy, and secure a prosperous future for all citizens.
He further urged residents to replace discord with dialogue and to choose understanding over division, while calling on the people to remain security-conscious, stressing that safeguarding the state is a shared responsibility requiring vigilance, cooperation, mutual respect, and support.
