Chinese Consul General Hails Otti’s Leadership, Commissions Reconstructed Isieketa-Obikabia Road

 

Consul General of the Peoples Republic of China to Nigeria, Ms. Yan Yuqing, has officially commissioned the newly completed Isieketa-Obikabia Road in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, built by Governor Alex Otti of Abia State.

 

Speaking at the ceremony, on Wednesday, Ms. Yuqing, who is on her first official visit to Abia State along with representatives of Chinese companies operating in Nigeria, affirmed China’s commitment to supporting Abia State’s development goals.

“I promise that Chinese enterprises will help you to build more roads, more bridges, more railways, highways, airports and others.

 

“And also we will help to provide more job opportunities for people, especially very young people.

 

“We will support our cultural exchange and healthcare cooperation, vocational education and high tech, especially the digital economy”, she said.

Ms. Yuqing commended Governor Otti for the milestone recorded by his administration in infrastructure renewal.

She noted that Abia State is blessed with abundant natural resources and is poised for a prosperous future under the visionary leadership of Governor Otti.

Abia is truly rich in natural resources, and more importantly, you have an exceptional leader in His Excellency the Governor and his remarkable team.

“I am confident that Abia State has a bright future ahead. The Chinese people are ready to work hand in hand with you to build a better life that will benefit both our people”, she said.

Also speaking, Governor Otti highlighted the importance of the road and the commitment of his government to completing projects that had been abandoned or unfinished by previous administrations.

 

When we took over, this place was impassible. The administration before us started from the Obingwa part and terminated it somewhere behind us.

“So we felt we should continue from where they stopped and take the road to the end, through Obikabia. I’m glad that we have completed that and the road is now accessible today”, he said.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Otumchere Otti, said that following the directives by the Governor, the Ministry commenced full reconstruction of the road and installed solar lights in built up areas as by the Governor to enhance the roads aesthetics.

Recall last year, Your Excellency, you gave us an order when this road was impassible, near Okpuala Ngwa, you gave us an order to move in and repair this road.

 

Today, I am very glad to let you know today that we have completed that exercise”, the Works Commissioner said.
