Fashion: Checkout blunders men commit

Looking great is not only about buying new clothes. You first need to get rid of the outdated trends, novelty clothing items; even habits that repel instead of attract people. Clothes that are strictly functional or overly flamboyant are not considered stylish.

Sometimes, it’s difficult to spot a fashion mistake, especially when everybody sees it and adopts it as a trend.

Before we go into the fashion mistakes, you need to first understand why you have to improve your appearance as a man.

It helps you to easily get a job. You leave an impression in the mind of your employer about your style of dressing when you are properly dressed or the other way round. Therefore it contributes to your chances of getting the job.

When you dress well, you attract the opposite sex. Good fashion sense also improves your confidence. Here are some fashion blunders most men commit.

Too much fragrance: fragrance must be discovered and never announced. Too much fragrance is not only a turn off; it can also cause migraines and allergic reactions. Most men have a poor sense of smell and are therefore desensitized to their every day cologne. As a result, they end up using too much and announcing their presence with a strong scent.

It is important to learn where and how to apply your cologne. Selectively spray once on your wrists, neck and chest, while holding the bottle 10 inches away from your body.

Large and bold logos on clothing: Clothing that displays brands and logos is only meant for marketing and not every day wear.

It is weird to wear a branded shirt, that is too busy, just to show off. You are not a walking billboard and should not advertize for a company that does not pay you for it. Do not wear a designer cloth just for the branding. Your clothes should fit well and suit your lifestyle. Designer clothes are not bad, but when the branding and logos are way too busy on the clothes, then it is wrong. At least the branding should be minimal. It should not detract the attention from the clothes.

Square toe shoes: Nothing screams late 90’s more than chunky-soled, squared-toe dress shoes. Avoid making your feet look stubby or like flippers and switch to a more refined curved too shoe.

Untucked dress shirt: Untucking your dress shirt does not mean “going casual” today. You may as well wear a T-Shirt. There is a reason why dress shirts are long, they are meant to be tucked in. If you want a more casual look, wear a button down shirt.

Visible under-shirt: Just like your under wear, your under shirt should never be visible. If you prefer leaving one or two buttons undone, opt for a V-neck undershirt so that it stays hidden from sight.

To match tie and pocket filler: A matching tie and pocket square set may be marginally acceptable for grooms men at a wedding, but wearing a tie and a pocket square cut from the same fabric will make your outfit look contrived and overdone. While there is no issue with buying a matching set, it is recommended not to wear both pieces at the same time. Instead choose a pocket filler that compliments your tie but does not match two closely.

Avoid wearing wide tie: An overly wide tie makes a man look older than he is, and the style is outdated. The width of your tie should be proportional to your suit jacket’s lapel width.
