The Chancellor/founder, Gregory University Uturu, Abia State, Prof. Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe has lauded the Abia governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu for shoring up the growth of Small Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Abia especially in Aba, describing the commercial city as back on track.
Fielding questions from newmen in his hometown Uturu, Abia State, the United Nations (UN) consultant, further described the Abia governor as an Ambassador of Made-in-Aba products, adding that his consistent promotion of Aba-made products, has in no small way given artisans in Abia a sense of belonging.
He further added that the governor’s investment in Human Capital Development especially in SMEs has conferred on Aba, the headquarters of SMEs in Nigeria; a feat he described as uncommon.
The scholar also commended Gov. Ikpeazu on healthcare delivery system of the state, adding that Tele-Health, a health initiative of the governor has brought doctors closer to the people, thus; reducing the wide gap from one doctor to 4,000 patients (1:4,000) to one doctor to 400 patients (1:400).
“Gov. Ikpeazu should also be appreciated for the proactive measures put in place in the management of Covid 19 in the state. This, made Abia one of the least state in the country with coranavirus case”, he added.
Prof. Ibe who further applauded the state’s effort to move Abia State College of Health Technology to it’s permanent site, also hailed Gov. Ikpeazu for his giant strides in education, especially for paying World Bank counterpart fund for 2000 youths to be trained recently.
In his words: “New schools have been built and the old ones rehabilitated among others. The teaching and learning environment of Abia schools has been given a face-lift and I commend the state governor for that”.
The technocrat also expressed satisfaction in the road Infrastructural development of the governor especially in Aba, adding that it is key to economic development.
He urged Abians to do all within their disposal to maintain and protect what the governor has done in their localities.
Prof. Ibe who also congratulated the Abia governor for the state’s third position in terms of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) according to National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) also urged people to stop demarketing the Abia state but invest in the state to create jobs for teeming unemployed.
He advised youths to shun crime, embrace diligence and be proud of what they do, adding that there is no opportunity outside God.
