Tottenham Hotspur manager, Mauricio Pochettino expressed sadness despite his side’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the first leg of the semi-finals of this season’s Carabao Cup.
The Video Assisted Referee was consulted before referee Michael Oliver awarded a penalty to the home side which Harry Kane converted in the first half.
Pochettino said, “I don’t like the VAR and nobody does. Today we get the benefit of it but after watching the World Cup and another league like the La Liga, I see that nobody is happy from day one that they started to use it”.
Chelsea manager, Mouricio Sarri was not happy with the VAR based decision as well, “I don’t think English referees are able to use the system”.
Meanwhile, the first leg of the second semi-finals of the Carabao Cup hold today at the Etihad Stadium between defending champions, Manchester City and League One side Burton Albion.
Both sides will be meeting for the first time in any competitive match.
