Calabar Traditional Rulers Council to Investigate Allegations Against Village Head of Esuk Utan and His Council

The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu, has instructed the Calabar Traditional Rulers Council to investigate and report on allegations tabled against the Village Head of Esuk Utan, Chief Okon Archibong Eke, and his Council.

Based on the allegations, the Village Head and his entire Council have been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation, which will be carried out by the Calabar Municipal Traditional Rulers Council.

According to a press release signed by Gov. Otu’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gill Nsa, the suspension of Chief Archibong Eke and his Council is with immediate effect, based on the allegations.

The Traditional Rulers Council is expected to carry out the investigations, make recommendations, and send them to the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy Affairs.

Meanwhile, the release also recommended that the Obutong Clan Council set up a committee made up of five men to oversee the affairs of Esuk Utan Village as the investigation proceeds.
