Abia Warriors gallantly crashed out of this season’s CAF Confederation Cup after losing 1-0 to Djoliba of Mali in the second leg of the first preliminary round played in Bamako.
The score line meant the Umuahia based side were eliminated 2-1 on aggregate as the first leg in Uyo had ended 1-1.
Sadly, Nigeria ‘s other representative in the competition, Kwara United were also eliminated by Asante Kotoko. The Nigerian side lost by a lone goal and were eliminated 5-3 on aggregate.
However, Remo Stars and Rivers United qualified for the next round of the CAF Champions League.
Stephen Manyo scored the only goal at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium to give Rivers United a lone goal aggregate victory over Les Aigles of Congo while Remo Stars eliminated Zilimadjou 5-0 on aggregate.
