According to him, the building had earlier been marked for demolition by the Rivers State Government before the incident occurred.
Some shop owners around the building were also seen parking their goods as they fear that the remaining part could fall on them anytime soon.
Though no human casualty was recorded as inhabitants survived in what some residents of the neighborhood described as a miraculous intervention of God, but the incident this morning left its occupants stranded.
Other nearby residents were said to have rushed witt ladders and other equipment to evacuate the occupants to safety as the staircase had been affected and could not be accessed at the time.
Officials of the Rivers State Ministry of Lands and Housing were yet to visit or confirm the development at the time of filing this report.
