Buhari reassures His Administration’s Commitment To Educational Advancement In Nigeria

President Mohammadu Buhari, has assured Nigerians that his administration is committed to the educational advancement of our nation through creation of an enabling environment for proper promotion of citizen’s education.

The president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who was represented by deputy secretary of Nigerian Universities Commission NUC, Prof. Gidado Bello Kumu stated this during his speech at the 9th convocation ceremony of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), pointing out that total commitment in moulding students to become very strong intellectually and skillfully would be of great benefit to the society at large.

He urged the school management to equip their students in order to showcase agricultural technologies developed by the graduating students come next convocation ceremony of the institution.

The chancellor, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu, in his speech, commended the efforts of the vice-chancellor and the staff of the university for instilling standard, character into the students, which will take the society to greater heights.
Alhaji Abubakar equally appealed to the host community and relevant agencies to assist in removing the obstacles hindering the development of the university.

However, the pro-chancellor, Muhammadu Lawal reiterated the need to have the interest of the university at heart, pointing out their decisions on proper placement in line with government fact finding panel.

Continuing, he said that their theatre of operation must do beyond the purview of classrooms, examination halls and farmlands to a higher platform where graduates who are passionate and enduring in their fields would be produced.

Earlier, in his speech, the vice-chancellor of MOUAU, Prof. Francis Ogbonnaya Otunta, while appreciating all those who graced the occasion, listed some of the problems facing the university which include inadequate physical facilities, among others.

He, congratulated all the graduating students for the successful completion of their academic programmes, while urging them to fully utilize the knowledge, skills and attitudes they acquired during the process of their study in finding rewarding space in the society.
