Two West African brothers will take up arms against one another when the Terenga Lions of Senegal take on the Stallions of Burkina Faso in the first semi-final of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Both sides are still searching for their first AFCON title. Senegal lost the 2002 final to the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and the last edition’s final to Algeria in 2019. The Stallions of Burkina Faso got to the final in South Africa 2013 only to lose to the Super Eagles of Nigeria by a lone goal.
To get to this stage, Senegal eliminated Equatorial Guinea while Burkina Faso clipped the wings of the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia by a lone goal.
The winner of this encounter will take on the winner between Egypt and Cameroon in Sunday’s final.
