The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria came from behind twice to defeat Hungary 4-2 in their first group B match of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil.
Hungary took the lead on the 3rd minute through Gyorgy Komaromi. Nigeria’s captain, Samson Tijani converted a 20th minute penalty to restore parity.
Eight minutes later Samuel Major fire Hungary in front again.
After the break, Nigeria sustained pressure on their opponents until the 79th minute when Usman Ibrahim equalized for Nigeria. Two minutes later, Oluwatimilehin Adeniyi put Nigeria in front for the first time in the game.
Nigeria’s three points was guaranteed when their captain, Samson Tijani scored from a free kick on the 85th minute.
Nigeria’s next match will be against Ecuador on Tuesday.
In the other match played simultaneously, host, Brazil crushed Canada 4-1.
