Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has promised to draw federal government’s attention on the need to properly demarcate the boundary between the Abia and Akwa Ibom.
The Governor who disclosed this during a civic reception organised in his honour by the people of Arochukwu Local Government Area at Aggrey. memorial primary school, Ibom Arochukwu, recently, promised to restore security and lasting peace to Isu community in Arochukwu L.G.A involved in protracted communal clash with their Cross River state neighbors.
According to him, Abia does not have enough land and cannot afford to cede any part of its land to any person or state.
Governor Ikpeazu further disclosed that it was for that reason that Abia declined the setting up of a cattle colony in the state by the federal government.
He assured the people of Arochukwu that his administration will complete the Ndioji- Ndiokereke Aba Arochukwu road being done by him and pledged to join hands with the stakeholders of the Local Government Area to turn around the fortunes of the Arochukwu people and Abia state.
Speaking earlier, the Senator representing Abia North, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal constituency, Hon. Uko Nkole and the State PDP Chairman had extolled the achievements of Governor Ikpeazu and assured him of the resolve of the people to reelect him in 2019.
Also speaking, the Chairman on the occasion, Chief Sampson Orji and Chairman Organizing committee, Mazi Donatus Okorie said the occasion tagged “Honour Beyond Words” was put together by all the five clans in Arochukwu LGA to endorse the Governor for a second term in office.
According to them, they have evaluated the works of the Governor so far and found them satisfactory, hence, the endorsement. They appreciated the ongoing construction of OAbam-Arochukwu Road among other projects.
The Governor had earlier commissioned rehabilitated Atani and Ugwuavo Arochukwu roads and was conferred with the chieftaincy title of omereoha Arochukwu by the traditional rulers of the area.
