The President and founder of Vision Africa International and Co-Chair, Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace,Bishop Sunday Onuoha, has enjoined christians to enhance the concept of peace and reconciliation which is imbibed in the Christmas celebration.
In his speech at the International Conference Center, Umuahia ,during the carol and nine lesson done in participation with Avis state Government,Bishop Onuoha noted that Christmas season calls for peace that will heal the land ,as well as bring hope for the hopeless.
Bishop Onuoha who maintained that the essence of Christmas is to celebrate the coming of Jesus Christ, peace and reconciliation, especially at this time in the history of our country where what is lacking is peace.
He further noted that the event is aimed at bringing people together, those who have different beliefs and tradition ,to celebrate the coming of Christ.
In his speech,the coordinator of Humanitarian Affairs and friend to Bishop Onuoha,Dr Prince Origa, enjoined Christians to epitomize, practice and exemplify the life of Christ,embrace the core essence of Christmas which is love and shun anything that violates the rights of others and things that will bring about pain.
Also speaking,the Methodist Bishop of Okigwe Diocese,Most Rev-Livinus Onuagha, noted that Bishop Onuoha has broken barriers with awesome Christmas carol and nine lesson.
Earlier in his speech,the President,Eastern Nigerian Union mission of Seventh Day Adventist Church,Pastor Bassey Udoh, urged the audience to emulate the humility of Jesus Christ who even unto death is lifted by God.
According to him, “Christmas season is a time of reconciliation and peace for the sake of the younger ones”.
Highlights of the occasion include, reading of the 4th Bible lesson by the The senator representing Avis South District,Chief Enyinnaya Abaribe, Malachi 3: 1-5; 5th lesson by Rev.Benedict Okeke, Isaiah 9:1-7; the 6th lesson by Janet Onuoha, Isaiah 9: 8- 14; the 7th lesson by Elder Vincent Ogbonna , Luke 2 : 8- 14 ; the 8th lesson by Rev.Moses Azu, Luke: 2 :15 -18; while Eunice Ifeanyi read the 9th lesson, John 1: 1- 8 which was the 9th lesson.
