Be Assured, Your Boundary Will Be Resolved Soon, Abia D.Gov. Tells Umuaku-Isuochi People

The Abia State Deputy Governor Sir Ude OK Chukwu has reassured the people of Umuaku Isuochi in Umunneochi LGA of the State Government determination to ensure that their boundary problem with their Owerre Ezukala in Orumba South LGA of Anambra State is settled once and for all.

Sir Ude OKo Chukwu who stated this during a meeting he held with a delegation of the people of Umuaku Isuochi over the lingering boundary problem have with their neighbors from Owerre Ezukala in Orumba South LGA of Anambra State at the Government House Umuahia noted that the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu led administration has always gone extra miles by providing all that is necessary to do the delineation and a physical demarcation of the boundary lines.

The Deputy Governor used the occasion to once again make a passionate an urgent appeal to the National Boundary Commission to expedite action in the delineation and physical demarcation of not just the boundary lines of Umuaku and their Owerre Ezukala neighbors but of all boundary issues between the State and other other States in the interest of peace.

Sir OKo Chukwu who is the Chairman of the State Boundary Committees stressed that Government will never cede an inch of Abia land to other States and advised the people of Umuaku and other boundary communities to maintain peace by not engaging in any act that may lead to the destruction of lives and properties no matter the level of provocation as every life is precious in the sight of God and humanity.

In his speech, the leader of the delegation of the Umuaku Community, Eze M.N Achara noted that the Supreme Court judgement of 1972 has already given a judgement on their boundary lines with their neighbors from Owerre Ezukala of Anambra State while 15km of the boundary lines has been done remaining only 8km and lamented that they have been restraining their youths to remain peaceful and calm despite provocation from their neighbors who have continued to encroaching on their lands by removing National Landmarks and Security posts.

Eze M N Achara who lauded the State Government efforts at resolving the border lines with Owerre Ezukala however appealed to the Deputy Governor to appeal to the NBC and his Anambra Deputy Governor Dr Nkem Okeke to expedite action to do the remaining physical demarcation which is long overdue due to unnecessary delays from NBC and Anambara State Government to avoid chaos which may lead to loss of lives and properties.
Confirming what Eze Achara said, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor, Sir Chris Nwanevu explained that the State Government has always been ready to do the remaining physical demarcation and delineation of the remaining 8km area but has been delayed and disappointed by the Anambta State Government on several occasions.
