Bassey Anthony Elected Correspondents Chapel NUJ Chairman In Akwa Ibom

Comrade Bassey Anthony of the Nations Newspaper has been elected as the Chairman, Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council.

The election which held on Thursday at the Chapel Secretariat in Uyo was conducted by the Electoral Committee (ELECO) led by Comrade Azubuike Okeh (Ph.D) of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

It produced Comrade Isaiah Eka of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) as the Vice Chairman, Udeme Utip of Tribune Newspapers as the Secretary, Comrade Lovina Emole of the National Ambassador as Assistant Secretary, Iniobong Ekponta of leadership as Treasurer and Emeka Samuel of Pilot Newspaper as financial Secretary.

In his acceptance speech, Anthony assured members of correspondents chapel of improved welfare, as unionism is all about welfare of members.

He added that the correspondents chapel being the flagship chapel of the NUJ, his leadership will strive to take the chapel to higher grounds.

The new elected chairman expressed gratitude to the Stakeholders of the chapel for standing behind his emergence and the new executive of the chapel.

He pledged to actively carry members along in all NUJ activities and to liaise with Ministries Departments and Agencies to ensure free and unhindered flow of information for the betterment of the society.

He also commended the ELECO for doing a wonderful job by ensuring a seamless and crisis free transition in the chapel.
