Azubuike Lauds Afam Osigwe On Emergence As NBA President

A legal practitioner and the Senior legislative Aide to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Barr. Precious Emmanuel Azubuike has congratulated Mazi Afam Osigwe (SAN) on his recent election as the president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

In his personal message of congratulations, made available to newsmen today, Barr. Azubuike maintained that Osigwe’s election is a triumph for the legal profession in Nigeria.

In his words: “Osigwe’s tenure will bring about progress, innovation, and transparency in the NBA’s operations”.

Barr. Azubuike urged all learned silks to provide Osigwe with the support he needs to elevate the association to new heights, adding that collaborative effort is needed to reposition the body.

He described Osigwe as a diligent and dedicated lawyer, expressing confidence that Osigwe will go to great lengths to ensure that the esteemed association fulfils its statutory responsibilities for the benefit of Nigerians.

He listed these responsibilities to include; upholding the reputable standard of legal practice in Nigeria, as well as promoting and protecting the principles of the rule of law and respect for fundamental human rights.

The newly elected NBA President and the former secretary general of the NBA, Mazi Afam Osigwe, garnered an overwhelming 20,435 votes, defeating his closest rival, the chairman of the NBA-Institute of Continuing Legal Education Governing Council, Tobenna Erojikwe who secured 10,998 votes.

The newly elected NBA officers have been inaugurated.
