Atiku’s wife, Gov. Emmanuel’s wife taunt FG’s Home grown feeding programme

The wife of Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential Candidate, Dr. Jennifer Douglas Abubakar together with the wife of the Akwa Ibom State governor, Martha Emmanuel have chided the APC led Federal government over the home grown feeding programme stressing that it is better to teach someone how to fish rather than giving him fish.

The duo who expressed their position at the Ibom Hall grounds Uyo during a PDP Presidential women rally argued that women would have been better off if they were empowered to enable them feed all their children with appropriate food than giving few of their children food in school.

Dr. Abubakar pledged to empower the women and give them a pride of place when she becomes the Nigerian’s First Lady adding that through her programme, Nigerian women will have enough resources at their disposal to take care of their children.

According to her, “We will fight for the women of Nigeria, we will not just be in the other room, we will be in the parlour, we will be in the office and everywhere. Your incoming President is passionate about gender equality and he respects women.

“In 2020, our children will go to school and we will feed all our children and not just a few. We need to vote out the broom party, what they are feeding our children is appalling.”

Speaking earlier, the Akwa Ibom first lady, Martha Emmanuel insisted that no outsider can feed the children better than a mother noting that women should be empowered to have something doing so as to feed their children at home.

She queried the rationale behind the federal government feeding only the pupils from Primaries 1-3 and leaving behind those in primaries 4-6 saying that a mother has the compassion to feed all her children irrespective of their age and number.

Her words, “it is only a mother that understands her children’s needs, no outsider can feed the children better than the mother. The women want to be empowered and i know Atiku Abubakar can give women money to establish something so as to feed their children.”

Mrs. Emmanuel also expressed fear about the poor quality and poor hygeinic environment the food were being prepared.

“No body knows how they prepared the food, how hygeinic the environment is, and the quality of the food. if you see some of those foods that they feed the children, you will weep and that is not what we want.
If a woman has twelve children she will feed all the children without segregation, she will not feed the younger ones and leave the older ones to go with empty stomach.”

She also condemned incessant killings in Nigeria saying that when PDP will take over power at the federal level, security and peace will be promoted.

In her remarks, the wife of the PDP Vice Presidential candidate, Mrs. Margaret Obi explained that the party’s restructuring agenda was not meant to divide Nigeria rather to encourage each state in the federation to create it’s own wealth and manage it.

“Restructuring agenda of Atiku/Obi was not meant to separate Nigeria as people speculate, rather to allow each state to be in control of their resources. PDP cares for the future of our people.” She said.
