The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP),Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has accused the All Progressive Congress (APC) government of having destroyed the economy of Nigeria and stressed that only the PDP has the capacity to develop the country.
Atiku who stated this during the PDP Presidential Rally held at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Saturday further accused the President Mohammadu Buhari led APC government of rendering millions of Nigerians jobless.
In his words: “This Government (APC) has destroyed the economy and rendered millions of people jobless.We have 21 million people that are not employed. This is not the government that we need to support, it is a government we need to reject on the 16th of this month”.
The Presidential hopeful promised to work with Abia State Government to create millions of jobs from Small and Medium Enterprises in the state if elected.
“He said, ” I am going to work with your Governor to make sure that we create millions of jobs for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises. Aba is the headquarters in the whole of Nigeria. We will create that hub and make sure Aba serves the rest of Nigeria and by doing that we are going to create millions of jobs for or young men particularly those who want to be small and medium scale entrepreneurs”.
While commending citizens of the state for their loyalty and support to the PDP since inception of current democratic dispensation, Atiku urged them to continue in that faith assuring that he will not disappoint.
National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, urged Abians to vote for Atiku who he said has demonstrated his wealth of experience in all his endeavours, adding that his performance distinguished him as a digital president who will restore the economy, security and the lost glory of the country.
He warned Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies against conniving with the APC to rig the elections and urged Abians to ensure they vote for PDP and stand to defend their votes as all votes must count.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in an interview with journalists after the rally, said the PDP is fully prepared through the massive turnout of Abians.
He added that his government will industrialize the state, create 700,000 jobs through the conceptualisation of the Enyimba Economic City, and the Umuahia Agro industrial Park among others when re-elected.
