Atiku Abubakar Files 35 Grounds of Appeal to Challenge President Tinubu’s Election Victory

In a determined effort to overturn the election victory of President Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, made a significant legal move on Tuesday by lodging 35 grounds of appeal before the Supreme Court. Atiku, represented by his legal team led by Chief Chris Uche, SAN, is seeking the Apex Court’s intervention to set aside the Court of Appeal’s judgment delivered on September 6, which upheld Tinubu’s status as the valid winner of the February 25 presidential election.

Atiku’s appeal asserts that the verdict of the five-member panel led by Justice Haruna Tsammani of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), which dismissed his petition against the presidential election outcome, was not only fundamentally flawed but also led to a grave miscarriage of justice against him.

Atiku contends that the PEPC panel committed a legal error by failing to nullify the presidential election due to non-compliance with the Electoral Act of 2022. He argued that the evidence presented clearly demonstrated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had acted in violation of existing laws and regulations governing elections.
