Association Visits NUJ, Calls For Teaching Of Photography

 

The Association of Professional Photographers (APPAS), Abia State has appealed to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to make the teaching and learning of Photography an integral part of learning process as the state is revamping technical education.

 

APPAS President, Comrade Dende Enyide who stated this in his address during a courtesy visit to the Abia State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, also asked the Ministry of Education to add teaching of photography as part of their curricular in technical education.

Dende, equally urged politicians to consider photography as first option, when embarking on youth and women empowerment as well as the NYSC to incorporate photography in their artisan scheme.

 

The APPAS President disclosed the readiness of the association to have a 21st century Photographic Villa that will house an auditorium, a photo gallery, studio, offices, cinema, executive chamber, recreation park among others.

 

Dende who sought for a synergy between members of the NUJ and APPAS, commended the role of Journalists in sensitizing, educating and informing the public.

He used the opportunity to invite the NUJ to the second edition of the Association’s Photo Festival tagged “Marketing Abia In Pictures”, scheduled to hold on 30th November,2021.

 

Responding, the Abia State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Victor Ndukwe explained the importance of pictures in journalism and promised to sustain the existing synergy between the Union and APPAS.

 

The NUJ Chairman commended the association for reaching out and assured that the Union will work with the association to move the state forward.
