Asphalt work on the Eziukwu road and other major roads in Aba will commence immediately the dry season sets in.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu who made this disclosure while inspecting some major projects under construction in Aba as part of his media tour across the state,said the essence was to give access to Ariaria and Eziukwu markets which falls within the key commercial hub of Aba.
While noting that the Eziukwu road have remained impassable for the past 35 years,Governor Ikpeazu said that the quality of the road will not be compromised as the Rigid Pavement Cement Technology would be used to construct the road.
He commended the contractor handling the project for the quality of drainage done and charged him to deliver the job by November to enable government commence construction on Omuma road, assuring that the Eziukwu road when completed would last up to 30years.
Speaking at the site, the Director of Civil Engineering, Engr. Sunday Okpara revealed that the 1.7 killometre drainage has already been constructed on the roads waiting for the rains to abate for the commencement of cement pavement technology and proper asphalting.
The Governor who also inspected the progress of work done at the Osisioma Flyover gave the contractor handling the project ultimatum to complete the riser and descent before December this year.
Other ongoing construction works inspected by Governor Ikpeazu include Ama Ogbonna through Osusu road,Ayaba Umueze road as well as Mgboko, Umuene Obikabia road.
