ASOPADEC donates School lockers, Stools, Office tables to schools

It was a moment of Joy for the Students, Teachers and the Community Leaders of Umuiku Isi Asa Community Secondary School, Ukwa West Local Government, as Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, ASOPADEC, donated 120 School lockers, 120 Stools, 6 Office tables and 6 Boards to the schools.

The Chairman ASOPADEC, Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu, while addressing the people during a handover ceremony of the materials recently in Ukwa West, said the donation of the materials was to enhance learning and teaching in the schools and also disclosed some of the activities of the commission in the area of education for the oil producing communities to include disbursement of bursary allowance to students of Asa Land, sponsorship of Asa students in jamb preparatory class at Rhema University, training of youths in skills acquisition and renovation of school blocks.

The ASOPADEC Chairman, represented by the Head of Social Welfare of the Commission, Mrs Amarachi Isaac Nwachukwu, urged the students to make use of the materials given to them, courtesy of the education friendly Governor of Abia State and called on the people of Asa Land to vote massively for re-election of Governor Ikpeazu in the coming election for more development.

In their responses, the Traditional Ruler of the Umuiku Isi Asa Autonomous Community, His Royal Highness, Eze T.E Agu, represented by chief Henry Okere, the principal of Umuiku Isi Asa Community Secondary School Ukwa West Local Government Area, Sir Nwogu Samuel Iheanyichukwu and women leader from the area, Mrs Nnenna Godfrey commended ASOPADEC for her developmental strides in the area which include construction of Umuiku Isi Asa community hall and other ongoing reconstruction of 6 class room blocks in the school, also thanking the Governor for his love and care for them and assured him of voting massively for the re-election of the Governor in the next election.

Some of the students of the school, Grace Okechukwu, Onyinyechi Uzoma and Michael Victoria, expressed gratitude to the Governor and ASOPADEC and promised to make good use of the materials.
