Abia state Oil Producing Areas Development Commission ( Asopadec) has disbursed the sum of 5million Naira as bursary allowance to students of Ukwa West Local Government Area.
Handing over the cheque in his office to the leaders of Asa Students Association, the Chairman of the commission Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu said the disbursement was in line with the development policy of the commission in the areas of education, hinting that the commission has embarked on renovation of school blocks and hospitals; construction of roads and rural road grading; provision of electricity and water boreholes; award of scholarships and provision of education aid materials and skill acquisition for the youths and many other projects across the state while urging the students to make judicious use of the fund.
Chief Nwogu who is also the leader of Ukwa local government Area stakeholders used the occasion to call on the people of Asa land to sustain their support for Governor Okezie Ikpeazu especially in voting massively for the re election of the Governor in the forthcoming election. Responding, the president of Asa Students Association Mr. Harold C Noble expressed gratitude to Chief Nwogu for his kind gesture of carrying the youths of Asa land in the scheme of things and commended the commission for the giant strides it has recorded in developments as well as assured of their support for the re- election of Governor Ikpeazu.
