ASEPA to enforce Abia cleanliness drive
Apart of the efforts to keep Abia clean and healthy, the State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) has reiterated that indiscriminate burning and littering of refuse remained prohibited in the state.
The ASEPA Deputy General Manager, Umuahia Zone, Catchist Ambrose Jonah, who disclosed this to newsmen in Umuahia, said that the governor has mandated the agency to ensure that Abia maintained the status of the cleanest state in Nigeria..
He disclosed that in the second half of the year, greater focus would be on continuous waste evacuation.
Catchist Jonah noted that the primary task was to ensure environmental hygiene and called on Abians to assist the government by bagging their refuse and disposing of their waste appropriately.
According to him, street-to-street evacuation of wastes has commenced and urged residents to dump their waste in the situated buckets from 5 pm to 6am and announced that ASEPA has embarked on a campaign against open defecation in Umuahia.
