ASEPA Commence Refuse Intervention Exercise In Umuahia

 

 

Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) has commenced the evacuation of refuse disposal in parts of Umuahia, the Abia State capital as part of it’s intervention to rid the State of filth.

 

Some refuse dump sites evacuated by the Agency today include, the Ehimmiri Housing Estate, Winners Chapel, Isi-gate, Timber market and Amuzukwu axis dump sites among others.

 

National Ambassador Correspondent who monitored the exercise reports that ASEPA refuse compactors and trucks were seen carting away refuse collected in the area with the assistance of ASEPA Officials.

Leading the exercise, the General manager of the Agency, Hon Kingsley Chinkwem, used the opportunity to call for corporation from residents of the areas to assist the state Government’s efforts in achieving environmental cleanliness in Umuahia and its environs.

 

Hon. Chinkwem noted that the exercise would continue on a regular basis and tasked the residents to ensure that their drainages are scooped and disposed at ASEPA designated points between the hours of 5pm-7am.

 

He announced that the only approved collection point for waste disposal is the ASEPA approved buckets placed at strategic points and warned that indiscriminate disposal of refuse would no longer be allowed as anyone caught would be arrested and prosecuted in line with the environmental laws.
