Arsenal Gun Down Newcastle, Reclaim Second Place

Arsenal scored two late goals to come from behind to beat stubborn Newcastle United 2-1 and reclaimed second place on the league table.

Nick Woltemade headed Newcastle United in front in the 34th minute and held on for about 50 minutes when Mikel Merino restored parity in the 84th minute with a glancing header off the post.

Rather than settle for a point Arsenal pushed for a win and eventually got it when Gabriel Magalhaes headed in a stoppage time corner kick.

Arsenal thought they had gotten a penalty early in the game, but the decision was overturned by VAR.

Like their loss to Liverpool, Newcastle United were stabbed in the heart with a late goal.

This victory took Arsenal back to the second place in the league with 13 points two points behind defending champions and leaders Liverpool.

Earlier, the Nigerian trio of Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze could not stop their club Fulham from suffering a 3-1 defeat in the hands of Aston Villa.
