Army Tasked On Continuous Training To Tackle Challenges Of Security Dynamics In Nigeria

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander Joint Task Force South South Operation Delta Safe, Maj.-Gen. Jamal Abdussalam has urged the officers to continue to train, so as to tackle security dynamics in Nigeria.

Speaking on Friday at the closing ceremony of 6 Division Inter Brigade Combat Proficiency Competition 2023 held in Ibagwa barracks, Abak, Akwa Ibom State,  the GOC stressed that regular training would help to develop the required capabilities in troops to handle every security challenge.

According to him, “sole objective of this competition, therefore, is to improve your combat proficiency, physical fitness, enhance your leadership traits, organisational ability, use of initiative and promote esprit de corps amongst participants. 

“Continue to train, so as to develop the required capabilities in troops to handle every challenge thrown at you by the security dynamics. “

Meanwhile, The Headquarters 2 Brigade Nigerian Army Uyo emerged the overall winner of the competition with 490 points.

A total of 69 officers drawn from 6 Division Garrison, 2 Brigade, 16 Brigade and 63 Brigade respectively competed in Map Reading/point to point, Skill at Arms/ Firing, combat Swimming, 5 Kilometre Combat Race and Obstacle Crossing.

The 6 Division Garrison emerged second with 450 points, 63 Brigade came third with 390 points and 16 Brigade took fourth position with 370 points.

Maj.-Gen. Jamal Abdussalam represented by 6 Division Training Officer, Brig.-Gen MI Lawan said that the level of teamwork, determination, skills and professionalism displayed by participants was excellent even as urged the participants to put in what they have learned from the contest into their operational tasks.
