Anglican Church holds their 2019 synod in Umuahia

The Anglican Communion,Umuahia Diocese is set to host the 2019 synod.

Synod which is an annual event of the Anglican Church, is the highest decision making body of the church, where issues that concern the church are being discussed.

That of this year happens to be the 2nd session of the Ninth synod.

Interacting with the Chairman Local Organising Committee, Mr Ifeanyi Anene, said the 2019 synod which doubles as the synod preceding the retirement of the bishop of Umuahia Diocese, Most Rev Ikechi Nwosu, is tagged “Looking Unto Jesus; The Finisher of our Faith”.

According to Mr Anene the topic for this year Synod was carefully chosen to mark the end of the Bishop’s ministry.

While welcoming the delegates, he prayed God to grant them a successful deliberation.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Central planning committee, Sir Emenike Onuoha, said the synod is a time where members of the Anglican Communion come together to galvanize ways to win souls into the church.

According to Sir Onuoha,synod help the church to give an appraisal of what the church has been able to achieve in the past year and chat course to bring people to the church as well as discussing ways the church can help its members make heaven.

Giving some of the successes of the 2018 synod, the Synod chairman said the church witnessed an increase numerically, as well as an expansion of the church building, praying that this year’s feat would be greater.

He advised members of the church to remain consistent,law abiding and pursue the course of the kingdom.
