The Women of Amuzu Ubakala have used this year’s August Conference to raise fund for the building of a market in their community.
According to the women, all funds realized in the 2022 meeting would be channeled towards the construction of shops, so that the women who normally go to other neighbouring villages to sell their goods,can now do so in their community.
Giving her address at the event which was held at Onyechefuleala, the chairlady Amuzu Women Association, Mrs Ihedinma Peter, appreciated God for the opportunity to witness another August meeting and the women for their support in making the event a success.
She said the women would be embarking on the building of more shops to add to the existing ones at onyechefuleala,so as to satisfy the demand and as well, make more income.
Mrs Peter, however,called for government support on the area of education.According to her, the community does not have a secondary school, calling on government to intervene on the state of roads in the community.
The women equalling used the August meeting to honour sons and daughters of the community who have contributed to the growth of the community.
Mr Wisdom Ofomba, a consultant at Scion International Travels and Tours Ltd, was conferred with the award of ‘Nwachigoziri of Amuzu’, in recognition and appreciation of his contributions to the growth of the women’s association, the Amuzu community and humanity at large.
Ofomba who expressed happiness over the honour,dedicated the award to his late mother and urged the women not to relent in pursuing community development through their August meeting.
A Knight of St Paul’s Anglican Communion, Sir Kingsley Ahaiwe and the YPP candidate for Umuahia South State Constituency, Michael Ejike Abba, were also awarded for their selfless service to the community. In their speeches, they eulogized the women over the numerous achievements realized through the August meeting, urging them not to relent but create a synergy together so they can achieve more.
The Umuahia South State Constituency candidate for YPP, Mr Abba, advised the public to eschew money politics and vote only right candidates come 2023.
Hon Chukwuma Mark, Elder Rex Uwakwe, Prophet Okechukwu Nwaeze, Elder Paul Nwakanma and the Chief of Staff to Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe,Nwokoma Okorie,who was represented by Nnanna Okpechi, expressed gratitude to the women for the award and urged them to continue to use the annual August meeting to effect meaningful development in the community.
Some women of the community were also awarded with the ‘Faithful Servant’ award.
For Ezinne Stainless Sitadinma Amaechi, she expressed happiness over the award and advised women to carry a forgiving spirit and be patient with their husbands especially at this time of bad economy, while her husband,High Chief Godspower Amaechi, congratulated the wife for the recognition given to her, adding that they have been serving the community tirelessly, which he said prompted the award given to the wife and promised not to relent.
Ugwudiya Charity Uche was also conferred Faithful Servant by the women, urging the women to come together and work as a team so they can achieve more, while her husband, Mr Sylvester Chidi Uche congratulated the women of Amuzu for a successful August meeting.
