The Chairman of Obingwa Local Government Area, Hon Ibe Nwoke, has raised alarm over an alleged impeachment plan by the former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Rt Hon Eric Acho Nwakanma.
In a Release signed by the chairman of the Obingwa LGA,Hon Michael Ibe Nwoke and made public on his social media handle, the chairman noted that his office had uncovered purported plans by the former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Chief Eric Acho Nwakanma, to forge signatories of some councillors in his Local Government to impeach him as the Executive Chairman of the Obingwa Local Government Council.

Nwoke stated that It was unfortunate that a man of Nwakanma’s class would stoop so low to want to cause mayhem in Obingwa, alleging that he wants to destroy PDP in Obingwa and the state at large.
He also disclosed that his office is aware of all his schemes which, he boasted would fail before it is being hatched.
Nwoke, however, called on the youths and people of Obingwa Local Government Area to remain calm as his office would do all within her powers to protect the mandate of the people of the local government.
In a similar development, the Secretary to the Obingwa Local Government Area, Hon Bestman Eruba, Esq, decried the withdrawal of security personnel from the chairman.
In a press statement, Eruba informed the general public that the security details attached to the Executive Chairman of the Obingwa LGA and the Former Abia State ALGON Chairman Hon Micheal Ibe Nwoke,have been withdrawn.
According to him, the withdrawal is consequently exposing the life of the Executive Chairman of Obingwa LGA, Hon. Michael Ibe Nwoke (ABUDHABI) to threat.
“This public notice is to request the good people of Obingwa LGA and all well meaning citizens of Abia State to remain peaceful and prayerful, as we take further necessary political and legal actions to protect the mandate freely given to us by the electorates”.
On his Facebook handle the Secretary to the Obingwa Local Government,pointed out that they have the youths and good people of Obingwa LGA to protect them. “hank you for taking our security. If private citizens can apply for protection from security agencies and get same, how much more an elected Executive Chairman of Obingwa LGA.
“Let the public be aware that our lives are in danger for decamping from PDP to YPP.
“We will remain resolute. We will address the international press tomorrow from all major Nigerian News platforms”,he said.
Recall that the Executive Chairman of Obingwa LGA had on Saturday made public his official exit from the People’s Democratic Party to the Young Progressive Party, citing irregularities in the just concluded PDP primaries.
According to some political Analysts,Nwoke’s alleged impeachment plan might not be far from his defection to the YPP, where he is contesting for the Obingwa,Ugwunnagbo and Osisioma Federal constituency position.
