A group, ‘ARISE Ambassadors’ has called on the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi and other Security agencies in the state to apprehend those behind the rumour that Governor Umo Eno celebrated Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of PDP for exposing President Bola Tinubu alleged fake certificate.
Recall that social media have been awash with speculations that Governor Eno during the PDP stakeholders meeting in the state on Tuesday celebrated Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for exposing President Tinubu’s alleged fake certificate.
Though the state chapter of PDP and Governor Eno’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Ekerete Udoh had debunked the rumour; the ARISE ambassadors, in a press statement on Thursday by its National Chairman, Rev’d Richard Peters said the security agencies should go further to apprehend the purveyors of such speculation and prosecute them accordingly to serve as a deterrent to others who plan to “propagate fake news.”
The group claimed that some disgruntled politicians who are not happy with the harmony existing between President Tinubu and Gov Eno were behind the speculations and urged the security agencies to investigate further in that matter.
He maintained that the State is gaining massively from the good relationship the governor, though in PDP, has with President Bola Tinubu and other stakeholders across party lines.
According to him, “We are aware that at no point in the stakeholders meeting was any such matter discussed. The governor is a highly responsible citizen who knows that discussing a pending matter in court is sub-judice, and cannot be party to such commission.
“That is why we the ARISE Ambassadors are calling on the police and security agencies to investigate the source of the misleading story and punish the perpetrators in order to serve as deterrent to others.
“It is unthinkable that the same Governor Umo Eno who has shown bipartisanship through his relationship with all Nigerians irrespective of party divides will now be talking about people based on party politics.
“Governor Umo Eno believes in working for the good of Akwa Ibom State irrespective of party divides, and is committed to bringing the dividends of democracy to the people from the federal government through collaboration“. They added.
