The Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government (SSG), Prince Enobong Uwah, has restated the strong loyalty and support of Uyo Local Government Area for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno.
Prince Uwah, who is the Political Leader of Uyo, said the people of Uyo would continue to support both leaders because of their fairness, inclusiveness and commitment to development.
He spoke during the first edition of the APC Homegoing Weekend meeting held at St. Patrick’s Primary School, Uyo, where he encouraged party members to increase mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“I bring warm greetings from His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, who asked me to thank you for your continuous support. His first appointment was that of the SSG, and with such recognition, it is clear why Uyo stands firmly behind his administration,” he said.
Also speaking, the ALGON Chairman and Chairman of Uyo LGA, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, described the Homegoing Weekend as a strategy to strengthen the APC’s structure and secure its place in the state’s political space. He praised the SSG for his guidance and support for all wards in Uyo, and highlighted the Governor’s impressive achievements in projects and contracts.
In his welcome address, the Uyo APC Chapter Chairman, Mr. Gabriel Ikpe, thanked members for their dedication to the party. He declared that “there is only one political party APC in Akwa Ibom State,” and said he was confident the party would win big in 2027.
The Member Representing Uyo State Constituency, Hon. Uwemedimo Udo, also stressed that Uyo has no reason to stand outside the APC, noting that the Governor appointed the SSG, the ALGON Chairman, the UCCDA Chairman and many other important officials from the area. He expressed confidence that APC would win 100% in the coming election.
Other prominent speakers, including the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Anieti Udofia; UCCDA Chairman, Hon. Anietie Eka; Delivery Advisor on Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh; Hon. Monday Eyo; Obonganwan Mfon Udokpo; clan leaders; and representatives of the Non-Indigenes Association, praised the Governor for promoting unity in the state. They said the peaceful atmosphere at the event showed the success of his leadership and expressed confidence that this unity would lead to smooth elections.
They all pledged full support for the second-term bids of both President Tinubu and Governor Eno, pointing to ongoing development across the country and the state.
The highlight of the event was the accreditation and revalidation of APC members, as well as the formal handover of party registers from all eleven wards to the SSG, who is the political leader of Uyo.
The event was attended by many notable personalities, including the SSG’s wife, Dr. Inemesit Uwah; the President of WALGON Akwa Ibom and wife of the Uyo Council Chairman, Mrs. Akaninyene Uwemedimo; former Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Prof. Chris Ekong; former Senior Aide to the Governor, Elder Eniefiok Ekefre; Coordinator of the ARISE Initiative for the Elderly, Mrs. Mercy Eka; and several aides to the Governor led by the SSA on Entrepreneurial Development, Mr. Ime Uwah. Elders, stakeholders, women, youths, and non-indigenes were also present.
