The member representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Moses Essien, has commended Governor Umo Eno for approving the contract award for the construction of the long-abandoned Use Ikot Amama road project in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area.
Essien, speaking at Oko Ita, Ibiono Ibom, during the 80th birthday celebration of Okuku Ime Udousoro Inyang, the Paramount Ruler of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, expressed gratitude to the governor for addressing the decades-long neglect of the Use Ikot Amama people by previous administrations.
The lawmaker, who chairs the House Committee on Health Services, stated, “Your Excellency, on behalf of the people of Ibiono Ibom State Constituency, I want to use this opportunity to thank you. Just three days ago, at the State Executive Council meeting, you approved the construction of the Use Ikot Amama road, which had become like a national anthem in past administrations.”
Hon. Essien, who was conferred with the chieftaincy title of ‘Edeme Ibiono Ibom’ at the event, noted that the new road project, when completed, would provide access to the richly endowed communities covered in the contract.
He pledged the cooperation of the beneficiary communities to ensure the smooth execution of the project.
Essien also expressed his gratitude to the Ibiono Ibom Monarch for deeming him worthy of the honor and assured the Paramount Ruler of his continued commitment to championing the Ibiono Ibom agenda.
In his message, Governor Umo Eno congratulated Okuku Ime Inyang on his 80th birthday celebration. Represented by the Information Commissioner, Ini Ememobong, the governor commended the monarch for using his position to mobilize support for the present administration and for ensuring unity and peace in his domain.
The governor assured that his administration would continue to accord respect, dignity, and honor to traditional rulers.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of the event, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk, who is the President-General of the Supreme Council of Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers, thanked God for sparing the life of the Ibiono Ibom Monarch to celebrate his 80th birthday. He acknowledged the monarch’s contributions to the peace, unity, and development of the state and described him as an asset to both the traditional institution and Akwa Ibom as a whole.
Etuk, who is also the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, prayed for God’s continued sustenance and strength for Okuku Ime Inyang.
The newly approved 10.9km road project, which includes two 40-meter-span bridges, will connect Nsai Use, Use-Ikot Amama, Ibiaku Ikot Esifa, Utong Mmong, and Nkwot Edem Edet, spanning communities in Ibiono Ibom and Ikono Local Government Areas.
