Akwa Ibom Elders mock Osinbajo, APC Over stolen mandate comment

say Akpabio’s competence over-bloated

Lovina Emole, Uyo

The Chairman of Akwa Ibom Elders Vanguard, Senator Anietie Okon together with Prof. Emmanuel Onwiuduokit have condemnd the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Adams Oshiomhole over the comments credited to them which bothered on stealing of the mandate of APC in the just concluded presidential/National Assembly elections in Akwa Ibom state.

The duo also noted that the VP and the APC were just over bloating the competence of Senator Godswill Akpabio noting that Akpabio lost his Charisma and glamour as soon as he joined the APC on August 2018, in an attempt to seek cover for his numerous sin.

VP Osibanjo had on Monday during a thank you visit to the APC in the state said APC mandate was stolen in Akwa Ibom and that it was totally impossible for Senator Godswill Akpabio to lose election in the state considering his popularity.

In a joint interaction with selected journalists in Uyo on Wednesday, they said it was ridiculous for Osinbajo to have made such comments saying that such was an indication that the vice president was ignorant of the current state of affairs in the politics of the state.

According to Senator Okon, “Such utterances were calous and disrespectful to the values of people of Akwa Ibom

“When did he know that there was a stolen mandate here. The stolen mandate is in Sokoto, Borno, Yobe, Jigawa, Kano and Katsina. Let him go there and show preachment.

For him to come here and desecrate the temple of truth by claiming that there was a stolen mandate is uncalled for.

“If he has nothing to say he should keep quiet and stop raising the tempers of decent people. He cannot call himself a pastor and a professor of law and there are descrations and breaches of the basic principles of common conduct.

“When we are talking of the country burning he is busy parading and pretending as if he is an expert in anything.
Rather than seeking ways of protecting the interest of those who have been murdered or those who have suffered carnage in Benue he said we should return to prayers. What prayer is Osibanjo trully capable of.”

On his own, the former commissioner in the state, Prof. Emmanuel Onwiuduokit argued that Senator Akpabio was not better than Senator Bukola Saraki who conceded defeat in good faith in the national Assembly election.

Onwuiduiokit further argued that there was no way Akpabio could have won the senatorial election having lost eight out of the ten local governments in his zone.

His words, “Is Akpabio better than Saraki that lost election and he left peacefully and heaven has not fallen. That somebody lost 8 out of 10 local governments and is still talking about stolen votes is ridiculous.

“The number of accredited voters in the card reader were 14,641. Out of that you claim to have 105, 000 votes. Are you a magician? Less than 15000 people were accredited and you say people that voted were over 100,000. I mean it is shameful and a monumental fraud in embrace of APC

“Oshiomhole is from Edo state, and the sitting governor is APC, yet PDP won in the state, so why is he not questioning the outcome of the election. The only thing is that Akpabio has been elevated higher than his competence.

“The Vice President and the leaders of APC in an effort to massage the ego of Akpabio should know the dangers it portends to us because they are encouraging breakdown of law and order. All i know is that the fate of Akwa Ibom state will be determined by the Akwa Ibom people.”

On the renewed clamour for the redeployment of the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in the state, Mike Igini, the Proffessor queried why the APC has been apprehensive over the integrity of the REC.

He said Mr. Igini’s track record of proven integrity in conducting credible elections have spoken volumes adding that PDP in the state was not afraid of any REC that may be deployed to conduct the governorship election in the state as far as the person would be neutral and professional.

“I have in good authority that the vice president arrived here with three national directors of INEC and supposed to be deployed to police the REC. We are not worried about that so fars the policing will not mean influencing wrongly or clamping down on the will of the people as expressed in their votes. They are welcomed.

“Igini has been resolute and dicplined in protecting the electoral guidelines and pelople like him should be made the chairman of INEC. He conducted elections in 2015 in Edo state and APC won 21 out of the 24 seats. Ask Oshiomohole how much he gave Igini. So why did he want Igini changed from the state if he is not afraid of the man’s inability to bend his rules.

“But we will accept any new REC provided the person is coming on a mission of counting the votes that have been properly cast by the people. So we don’t care who the REC is, provided you are doing what is right.

“But if it is the one that will come with an already written result then the person should write his will before he comes.”

“The desperation shown and displayed in the last few days by the APC over the election in Akwa Ibom tells us a lot. It shows that they are only interested in our resources and we will bring an end to this.” He said.

He expressed confidence that PDP in Akwa Ibom would win the elections on the 9th of March 2019.

“APC in Akwa Ibom is a minority, Akwa Ibom people have spoken and they will speak again on Saturday. We know all their antics and we are ready for them.” He said.
