The Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. KufreAbasi Edidem, has congratulated Ms. Usoro Akpabio on her recent appointment as the pioneer Managing Director of the newly established South South Development Commission (SSDC).
In a statement issued on Friday, Hon. Edidem described Ms. Akpabio’s appointment as a “square peg in a square hole,” citing her distinguished track record in the oil, gas, and energy sectors of the Nigerian economy.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment, which he described as his dedication to “inclusive governance.”
Edidem extended his appreciation to the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, for his “tireless advocacy for the South South region.”
Edidem , who represents Itu state constituency, expressed the optimism that she would bring her vast wealth of experience and leadership skills to bear in her new role.
“I have no doubt that Ms. Usoro Akpabio will bring her wealth of experience and exemplary leadership to bear in steering the SSDC towards the realisation of its vision for sustainable development, growth, and prosperity in the region,” the Deputy Speaker said.
As chairman of the House Committee on NDDC and Regional Development, Edidem pledged his full support to the Commission, assuring of close collaboration to ensure meaningful progress across the South South.
He prayed that Akpabio’s tenure would be marked by impactful service and an enduring legacy noting that the newly established South South Development Commission would drive the much needed strategic development initiatives across Nigeria’s oil-rich South South geopolitical zone.
