Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, has decorated ten newly promoted officers of the command and charged them to see their promotion as a call for higher responsibilities.
Edgal reminded the promoted officers that they were promoted on the basis of hard work and dedication to duties hence the need to reciprocate the gesture by putting in their best to service.
In a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon, on Monday in Uyo, the state capital, Edgal said the officers were promoted from the rank of Supretendent to chief Supretendent of police.
According to the statement, the commissioner appreciated the efforts of Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, for his steadfastness in ensuring that those due for promotion are promoted as at when due.
It partly reads ” We want to appreciate the efforts of the IGP, in ensuring that promotion of officers is given priority attention in his administration.
“Let me also appreciate the Police Service Commission for showing commitment to the promotion issues of police officers.
“For the Officers, I congratulate you on your promotion and urge you to see this as a recognition of your hard work and dedication to duties.
“You should know that promotion comes with added responsibility, you should expect higher responsibilities as we brace up to the mandate of ensuring that every resident of Akwa Ibom State goes to sleep with his eyes closed.”
Responding, one of the newly promoted Officers, Fredrick Nnudam,who spoke on behalf of others, thanked the IGP and the Police Service Commission for the honour done them by their promotion which was effected as at when due.
He promised on behalf others to reciprocate the gesture by rededicating themselves to the task of ensuring law and order in the state.
“We thank God Almighty, the IGP and the police service Commission for their committment towards ensuring transparency and accountability in the promotion process
” We want to assure you and the command in general that we will reciprocate this gesture by giving our best to service in the state and the command”.
