Again, Abia Govt Announces Postponement Of Restriction On Tricycle, Motorcycle Operations

Abia State Government has announced a postponement of the planned restriction on the operations of tricycles (keke) and motorcycles (okada) in Aba and Umuahia.

The restriction, originally set to commence on August 1, 2024, between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. has been put on hold until further notice.

This is not the first time the state government had shifted the planned enforcement of the new operational hours for tricycles and motorcycles in Aba and Umuahia.

A release made available to Newsmen by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu attributed the postponement of the implementation to “the delay in the implementation of an alternative solution”.

Part of the press statement reads this; “The decision of the state government to push forward the date for the commencement of the enforcement of the restriction policy underscores the administration’s stance of giving a human face to governance and policy implementation.

“It further confirms the fact that the people at all times, are the centerpiece of all government policy actions”.
