Egypt recorded their first victory in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations with a lone goal win over Guinea-Bissau in group D.
After a goalless first half, Mohamed Salah scored the only goal of the match with 21 minutes left to the end of the match.
The victory was overshadowed by the cancellation of Mama Balde’s wonderful strike which would have been the equalizer, but it was disallowed after VAR review.
Egypt will take on Sudan while Guinea-Bissau will tread tackles with the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Wednesday.
Nigeria qualified for the second round after garnering maximum six points with victories over Egypt and Sudan.
Any of the other three teams still stand a chance of progressing to the round of 16.
