Algeria needed a win to stay alive, but trailed by two goals at the break after Franke Kessie and Ibrahim Sangare scored for the West Africans.

Nicolas Pepe, who plays his club football for Arsenal in England, put the icing on the cake when he scored Ivorian third goal before Algeria captain Riyad Mahrez hit a penalty against the post.
