The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon confirmed top spot in Group A of the Africa Cup of Nations following a 1-1 draw with the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde.
Vincent Aboubakar scored his fifth goal of the tournament when he put Cameroon in front six minutes before half time.
After the break Garry Rodrigues restored parity.
As winners of Group A, Cameroon will face a third-placed team from either Group C, D or E in the round of 16 next Monday.
The Blue Sharks of Cape Verde finished third and will have to wait to see if they can progress as one of the third placed teams.
In the other Group A’s match played simultaneously, Burkina Faso and Ethiopia settled their encounter 1-1. Cyrille Bayala gave the Stallions the lead in the 25th minute but, Ethiopia equalized through their captain Getaneh Gebede, who converted the penalty that resulted from Steeve Yago’s handball.
Burkina Faso finished second with four points and will therefore face the runners-up in Group C in the round of 16 on Sunday.
