Advocacy group urges INEC on Rivers Election

Convener of an advocacy group known as Initiative For Credible Elections Ledum Mitee has urged the members of the fact finding committee set up by INEC to investigate the alleged interruption of the electoral process in Rivers state, to be transparent in the collection of their finding.

” my expectation of what that committee is suppose to do is to look at the unit result, and the parties themselves should tender their unit copies, so that they can crosscheck whether it is legitimately what came from the unit. Even in Abuja, you can stay there and do the arithmetic. In Japan you can also stay there and do the arithmetic. So I think that, that is what should be the way forward. If the electoral officers from the youth copers, from the ad hoc staff, if they have copies of the result that came from the unit, let’s see how many of those things are there” he stated.

Ledum Mitee also called on the presidency to speak on the alleged militarisation on Saturday’s Governorship And House Of Assembly Elections, to free the doubt of Rivers state people that army was not sent by president Muhammadu Buhari.

” I am not one of those who buy this story that ‘people in military uniforms’ I think that no matter the preachment we make to people, no matter what you do, you must put the poke where it stops, and that is at the desk of the President. I think in this matter, he is the person that can say look we asked the military to come, and give their reason. Clearly INEC has appealed in their statement, their public relation person said ‘ please, they are not allowing us do our work” he stated.
