ADP candidate Speaks on suspension of Electoral process

Governorship candidate of Action Democratic Party ADP in Rivers state Victor Fingerson has welcomed the suspension of the electoral process in Rivers state by INEC.

Mr Fingerson while speaking on the reason given for the suspension said that what he saw on Saturday was far from being called an election. He said that the best available option was what INEC adopted.

” the elections were marred with violence. This is not democracy. Rivers state has shown a bad example to the world. For allowing ourselves to be embarrassed, not just locally but internationally. There is no where in the world were during an election you will find 50 vehicles full of military personnel, parading the streets. I call that intimidation. And I think that what happened in Rivers state was too bad. INEC has no other option but to suspend the election as they have done ” he stated.

The ADP governorship candidate blamed the interference from the security agencies for the irregularities that marred the election of Saturday.

” the interference of other agencies that create the problems, where government agencies are quarrelling and fighting themselves to take over the election process. As I speak to you, ballot papers, result sheet and electoral materials are been stocked in certain places where INEC can not say this is where these materials are ” he stated

Chief Joseph Onyekwere , a prominent PDP member said that the Governorship and House of Assembly Election in Rivers state was nothing to write home about. He said it was a show of shame,where the the use of institutions and government apparatus were used to disrupt the electoral process, by preventing a political party members from exercising their franchise, and also rewriting of election result. According to him,the rigging was so apparent that even the blind could see it.

” I think Nigeria has passed this level in electoral process. We have passed the era of military intimidation and involvement in politics. People are discouraged, and so many has vowed never to participate in any election in this country, since it has turned to an open day armed robbery. The world is not happy with what is happening in Nigeria, especially in Rivers state. The military institution has been shamelessly politicised” he stated

Meanwhile, other people interviewed, are asking INEC to release the result.
